Children's Performing Arts Series Mission

Since its creation in 1985, the Children’s Performing Arts Series, a program of the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, has provided children from the ages of 3-10 the opportunity to see live Children’s Theatre.

This series consists of three performances yearly by some of the best professional children’s theatre companies in the United States. These performances are all presented at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons at the beautifully restored Paramount Theatre in downtown Abilene.

The major goal of the Children’s Performing Arts Series is to assure that each performance reaches children of all backgrounds. The Series was established to enable families of the Big Country to experience quality live entertainment without having to leave the area. Thanks to our sponsors, free tickets are provided to a number of human service agencies to ensure that children from families with limited resources may attend.

We are pleased to report that over 2,500 patrons attended the performances during the last season. Because of the nominal ticket prices ($8.00 per show) and the number of tickets donated, the Series solicits sponsors for performances.

The Series has continued for over twenty-five years in the same location providing entertainment to delighted families whose children may be exposed for the first time to the beauty of the Paramount and the wonder of quality live theatre and song.
